Get your money's worth with Nissan Service
Nobody likes needing to get their car serviced. We put it off, we ignore the dashboard warning lights for as long as we can, and sometimes pretend that our car hasn’t started making a questionable noise.
Getting your car serviced doesn’t have to be an overlooked experience. At the right dealership, with the right expert mechanics, getting your beloved car serviced can be an enjoyable experience.
Taking steps in preparation for your next car service can help make it a stress-free experience that doesn’t break the bank.
Maintain. Maintain. Maintain.
Simply put, keeping your car clean and in decent condition will prevent damage from building up and needing a large costly service. Easy checks and steps will make sure your car has few problems, but also help you to understand the condition of your car before bringing it in for service, which prevents any unpleasant surprises.
Don’t let your lights let you down
Lights play a very important role when it comes to road safety. They keep you, as well as everyone around you, alert and aware of your environment. Ensuring their proper function is a crucial step in preventing a larger accident. Check your reverse lights, brake lights, indicators, hazard lights, headlights, and fog lights.
Lights can affect your car battery’s life and can drain it if left on. Turning your car lights off when the car is unattended or not in use will prevent needing to service your battery before its expected time.
Windscreens
Your windscreen is a great example of a small issue quickly becoming a large problem. A single chip in your windscreen grows and expands into a large crack very easily. Fixing the chip in your windscreen without putting it off and procrastinating will let you avoid needing to replace the entire windscreen.
Never tire from checking your tyres
Driving on worn-out tyres can be damaging to your car as well as dangerous. Driving on a flat tyre that’s deflated and lost its integrity can lead to damage to the wheel and rim. This extended damage is more costly to replace and leads to a bigger service job. Even worse, they make driving unsafe and can result in an accident. Checking your tyre’s pressure is best done when they are cold before a drive.
When checking your tyre pressure, ensure to also perform a wear inspection. Your tyre's tread depth should be at least 1.5mm continuously. There are at least four wear indicators on every tyre that mark when the tyre’s tread has been worn down to 1.6mm. They are found on the side of the tyre and the edge of the tread. Tyre treads allow tyres to grip onto the road and drive safely without the fear of sliding or rolling when turning or driving on sloped surfaces. A lack of traction is dangerous and can result in an accident. Maintaining proper tyre tread and diligently replacing tyres when needed is important for avoiding large car services and repair costs.
